My temperature gauge reads....2 DEGREES!!! I am up early to check on my pipes in the garage...the washer and dryer are out there. A word of advice...dont buy a house with the laundry room in the garage. I cant believe how cold it is. I dont remember anytime in my life that it has been this cold. There is still snow covering the ground since Christmas. The high today is suppose to be 10 degrees. I got off of work this morning around 3 and the temp sign read 10 degrees. My mom lives 2 hrs away in Missouri and her temp is -1. I covered all the
north windows with blankets to keep the north winds from blowing in. I have storm windows, but they arent helping. The blankets did make a difference. At least the sun is shining this morning. Will take advantage of the sun rays by raising the blinds on the south side of the house. I think I will make some blueberry muffins, spinach lasagne, and some au gratin potatoes. Baking should put some heat in the house. I disconnected the dryer vent from the outside to exhaust in the garage to heat it up. I am washing everything in site so I can use the dryer. I do have a lint trap on the end of the exhaust hose. Woohoo...it is 9:30 in the morning and we are up to 5 degrees. Saturday the high temp is suppose to be 16 with a low of -1. I think I need to dirty some clothes...hehe Sunday will be a heat wave...34 for a high. Might need to get out the shorts...Friday, January 08, 2010

First Day of "2010"...Yippee!!!!
The first day didnt start out very well...I was sleeping. Wish I could say I had a blast at a club and got drunk, but that wasnt the case. I was working...ugh. I am cursed with being a perfectionist and a hard worker, plus I never know what issues will arise during the end of year at work. So last nights work took approximately 12 hrs. Nothing major, just the usual end of year stuff. I did go outside a couple of minutes before midnight to ring in the New Year. I was not bringing in the New Year sitting at my desk. There were several aerial firework displays in the surrounding neighborhood and some firecrackers. The view of the full moon was awesome and the air was a crisp 25 degrees with a slight breeze. Then I remembered I had to get back to work. Getting home in the wee hours of the morning, my home chores began...take care of the kids, make the coffee, brush the teeth, say the prayers and then finally getting into bed...I was exhausted. At least the kids let me sleep till noon and then it was time to take care of them and their needs. Then I went back to bed and took a nap. It was a long nap...long enough that the sun was setting. I needed to get up and fix something for dinner. The menu consisted of Blackeyed peas, Sauerkraut (dont care for boiling cabbage at home), fried potatoes with onions, and cornbread. It was fantastic. Having dinner and watching some New Year football was great. I think I will end the day with a couple of glasses of sparkling wine and watch a good movie.................**Happy New Year Everyone**
